The Kilcooly Abbey experience

As always happens we made our way for an early morning walk to Kilcooly today. It was as ever a wonderful experience. Benson was not on form as there were too many deer crossing the path and he missed all of them. Anyway we made it to the Abbey after stepping through about a thousand tonnes of cow shit.

It’s a magical place steeped in hundreds of years of history. Eventually it was closed as a working monetary during the Cromwell years and turned into a folly for the main house.

At the right time you get the best view of the main hall and can imagine the sunlight streaming through the original stained glass window. The carvings were done by a famous Tipperary stone mason  For that reason the office of public works maintain the abbey.

What a weekend!

Wakanda

My head is throbbing and my throat is raw from the fun times and laughter. Such an excellent weekend spent in Kilkenny. Gillian was as always the hostess with the mostess… we drank wine and had a rare owld time. Roll on Christmas , that’s what I say.

The end of the line

It’s been a long time since this set of tracks has seen any action. The bog walk reveals the past history of this place where trains used to ferry the fresh cut peat to the factory at the end of the tracks for processing and distribution. Now it’s overgrown with weeds and the bog is starting to regenerate at a surprisingly fast pace. It won’t be long before the tracks are no longer visible and the bog will be returned to nature.

Elevate that dish

I’m a good catholic boy innit! So obvs on a Friday it’s gotta be a fish dish. Todays selection was Aldi breaded cod with crinkle cut fries (both oven baked) and homemade tartar sauce. Absolute yummines even if I do say so myself.

After a hard days work

The distance from office desk to chair to TV remote has been optimised to ensure minimal energy wastage. It’s sublime. I can get from Zoom to Prime Video in literally 30seconds.

It just never ends…

For the love of Jehovah will it ever stop!!! Do I hear you say? Well obviously not as the space time continuum would be completely distorted if that kind of schnanagins were to be allowed on here. But I feel your pain AND yes it is indeed another dish from the ministry of bragging. Todays delight is a Thai inspired green curry with prawns. It’s going to be awesome!!! I thank you 🙏

Dog in a Bog

T’was a dark and dreary morning in the midlands of Ireland today but that couldn’t stop us from embarking (see what I did there?) on our usual dog walk du jour. Todays location was the bogland outside Littleton. What a lovely walk through open bog with the bounce of spongy peatland underfoot. Sure Benson was only in his element. Dark cold skies but warm hearts!!!

The fun we had the day we did

Okay so I totally get it…. No one reads this, and that’s perfectly fine as it’s not for you. It’s for me!! But I have to make a recommendation. If for no one else, for my future self to recall the joy of this series. ‘Only Murders in the Building’ is right up my street. Totally my kind of humour. Perfectly formed and beautifully cast. If you’ve got a spare weekend make this your binge series. Hill air E ous…..

That’s all 😍

Bad doggie

So it’s no secret that we have a dog. Or that we have a totally spoiled dog that suffers from major separation anxiety. But what might not be common knowledge is that this little bitch has now figured out how to open fucking doors. Yes he can open any door either inward or outward ….  Anyway today I left him in the kitchen to go shopping. Came home and he had escaped the kitchen and chewed his way through the blinds in the boot room (it’s a speciality of his)…. Plus, as always, he pissed on the floor.

/me <sighs>

What’s on the board?

Well obviously dinner. Another day another holler. And yes I’m going to bore the shit outta you all week with my amazing culinary skills. Actually the Broccoli mash was quite good and i twinned it with some French lentils. Proper good food. That and crispy skinned salmon fillet with a squeeze of lemon. Exquisite!!!! Ha I sound like Jamie Oliver loving his own shit.
