Shock horror news just in. Russia is sending ‘peacekeeping’ troops into the breakaway regions of Ukraine. Vladimir Pukin is such a hero, saving all those poor little pro Russian separatists from Western aggression. And the world watches on with open mouths, inaction reigns.
It’s like a scene from The Life Of Brian. Time for everyone to get together and pen a strongly worded response. There is no leadership in the west because we have handed over all financial and energy power to rogue states like China and Russia. While the west should have been building renewable energy to reduce dependence we instead focus energy on petty internal nationalistic squabbles.

Target reached
Set your mind on a goal and you will achieve it. Sounds like some self-help BS but it’s actually some real world factual stuff. After Christmas I had piled on the weight. I spent two months focused on getting back to target and I’m there. The same concept applies to your professional and personal goals. Stick to the plan and you will get there. It might take a month or it might take three decades. The main point is to stick to the plan and you will get to where you’re aiming.
It only takes about three years
To finally make it to the upstairs level of the Colosseum pool at my Spa. Like for the love of Jehovah it’s even better on this level. Might work from here some day just to see how it feels.
The big push
I’m not going to say I look fabulous but Jesus Christ how good do I look. Fifty fucking two baby!!! Back in the gym for the past few weeks and I’m feeling it. Move over Noom, Freeletics is my new obsession!!
All the Kool Kids use Polaroid
I’m going through a major retro phase at the moment. Bought a Sony Sports Walkman last year and just before Christmas got my hands on a Polaroid camera. I’d forgotten just how cool they are. Especially the black and white ones. Okay you have to remortgage your house to afford the film but boy is it worth it…
They’re here
Watch out. They’re coming to get you. We should have known the inevitable was going to happen when the wordle last week was incorrectly spelled in gawd awful American English (there’s an oxymoron if there ever was one) but with the addition of Humor to the mix we should have known what it meant. I connected to the usual powerlanguage url today but it redirected to nytimes.com. Arrgg (does that count as a five letter wordle?) Probably in Amenglish it does!! Anyway I’m just waiting for the ‘todays word brought to you by shoveyourbraindownthetoiletandkissyouranusdotcom’ along with the option to Supersize your word. Pfffttttt all good things come to an end I suppose.
Getting back on the bike
5months to the day since my last bike ride on the Isle of Wight. Today I tested the new EMX1 and it didn’t disappoint. I need to tune the saddle height and orientation and do some aligning on the cleats but for the most part it was a thoroughly enjoyable lunchtime outing. Not my quickest but that will improve. One noticeable thing is how light the frame is. I didn’t get near to the lowest gear on any of the hills. It’s going to be one hell of a summer 😜
Revving up for the Summer
When I was back in Ireland last October I brought my trusty Eddie Merckx AMX1 back with me and left it there so I could use it whenever I’m over for long visits ( without the need to constantly move it forward and back). The downside being that left me with no bicycle over here. And I do love my long weekend bike rides. So getting a replacement has been high up on the agenda since then.
I’ve always been a fan of buying second hand, and the Merckx frame really suits me. So I spent the last few weeks trawling resale sites for a suitable replacement. The EMX5 looked great but with a price tag in the 3.5k band it was a bit of a stretch. After a lot of delving into bike site reviews I settled on the EMX1 full carbon fibre frame-set with Shimano 105 shifter 20gears. The next task was to find one for sale. There were a few on eBay at around the £1400 price range. One of the frames way too large which was a shame as the price was just over a grand. Then last Saturday as I trawled eBay at 4am I came across an absolute bargain. Good as new EMX1 for £650. Snapped that bad boy up and collected later that afternoon. She is a real beaut weighing just over 8kg. I can’t wait to do a road test this weekend (as I had to order new cycling shoes and pedals 😀😀)
