The BIG night out

It’s been a hectic Summer of events where all that pent up energy from the lockdown was released. Yesterday was yet another hedonistic night out with the lovely Sineaid. First food and drinks at the Oakford Social, followed by G&Ts on the train, then drinks at the National Theatre with a show. We ended up at The Friendly Society and caught the 1.30am train home. Bottom line my head hurty big time. 🤣🤣

Forbury gardens

Ever since the terror attack / hate crime in Reading the lion from Forbury gardens has become the symbol of Reading. What few people know is that the sculpture was a topic of much ridicule for the artist as the stance that the lion takes is completely unnatural and would never occur in the real world. But like Reading innit, looks good but it’s a bit wonky.

The problem with people

Is that they are far too impressionable. I mean all they need is one little sniff of a crisis and they all form a queue. First it was toilet rolls with some families purchasing enough to wipe the arses of China, they then moved on to flour which is now no doubt in a mouldy pile in some poor sods garage. Well this week it’s petrol. All it needed was some clever clogs  from BP to announce they were closing a couple of forecourts because of a lorry driver shortage and the brigade of fuktards set to action. They are literally jamming the roads in their efforts to get their hands on a tank of fucking petrol. Honestly if I could kick each and every one of them in the face I would. They will probably become a self fulfilling prophecy by disrupting the normal supply chains further and forcing additional closures. And this begins the circle of fuckery all over again. <sighs>

The AngloFranco struggle continues

You just can’t make this shit up. The leader of the UK throwing jabs at his French counterpart in true Etonian style.

Boris Johnson has told the French president to “donnez-moi un break” and get over his anger about a new military pact between the UK, US and Australia. Speaking to reporters in Washington, he said it was time for “some of our dearest friends” to “prenez un grip”.

I’m not a fan of  Bojo but I can see why the uneducated masses follow his populist goading.

The Nimble Gimble

So I have finally decided to go for a phone refresh. Well it’s almost been a year already with this one. But as ever when I’m shopping for a new fruit factory device I get sucked into the accessories ecosystem. Well this time around I went totally cray cray and bought everything apart from the kitchen sink. One of the many additions was a gimble for making smoother videos. It’s pretty slick and I’ll attempt to post something I’ve made with it before the end of the year. The app is quite feature rich and allows you to take pretty wide angle photos. Check out this one of the garden office.

Bojo is at it again..

The man is a walking quote generator built by ebolians on the planet wiffle-waffle.

On the 2021 gas shortage crisis

  • “It’s like everybody going back to put the kettle on at the end of a TV programme, you’re seeing huge stresses on the world supply systems.”

and another cracker again on the energy crisis

  • “The guy ropes are pinging off Gulliver and it’s standing up, and it’s going to take a while, as it were, for the circulation to adjust.”

He may be a snake of a politician but he’s also one very entertaining clown.

What’s the T?

I love my Mr Grumpy mug. It suits me to a T. Whenever I’m having an angry stomp around the office it calls out to me and I settle down with a nice cup of Earl Grey. Perfect for calming those nerves.

The problem with BA

I bet the last concern on the ill-fated titanic passengers mind in the weeks leading up to the sailing was that they might receive a telegram announcing that their sailing had been cancelled.  But for the modern day traveller it’s a regular occurrence. So much so that I actually get anxious the closer I get to any journey. Sailings on the Irish Sea are notoriously bad, especially when it comes to winter storms but at least that’s an act of god in a way.

British Airways on the other hand routinely book people onto flights they know will never depart.  So every time I make a booking I’m on edge that I’ll receive a seat change email (which means new flight). And that’s exactly what happened this week for not one but two flights.

Mother (insert expletive here)

Fucking facebook

So I have not been using Facebook for almost a year now and in that time I expected that I was totally removed from the tentacles of the evil overlord. Well today in preparation for getting rid of my old android phone I logged on to change some settings. Whilst navigating around the settings I came across something called off-Facebook activity

Now to be clear I do not use my Facebook account details to log into ANY sites. I always register with my personal email and the email addresses I use are new and have never been associated with Facebook. I was shocked to see that almost every website I had recently visited was sending information to Facebook. Let that sink in for a moment, every website that was never associated to my Facebook account sharing my info with Facebook even when the login address I used is different to my Facebook gmail. That’s something that I personally find very very concerning.  I immediately cleared all historical data and turned off the off-Facebook setting.  I suggest that you do the same.
