It was just for a short weekend that we hit the capital of Austria but that's two whole nights and days of mayhem. What could possiblly go wrong?? Well luckily nothing went south. We lost nothing apart from our dignity and perhaps the ability to fit into our slim pants [it's the cakes fault... more on that later] Anyway Lanigan wanted to hit the christmas markets to do some shopping and perhaps get some mulled wine - or Gluewein as they call it over there. Glue is right... for the love of jesus if they put any more sugar into the stuff it would be classed as treacle with an EU health warning slapped all over it. Just kidding it was all lovely and no one was carted off to A&E on this particular evening.

We only did it for the adorable little cups (|honestly guvenor, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) .... but they were seriously adorable. Although the Austrians are pretty cray cray when it comes to checking the owld Covid passports. Almost had to supply a stool sample for them to confirm by DNA test that I was who I purported to be. Well we all passed their rigorous tests and managed to slurp our way to a near diabetic coma. Happy days!

So the next morning after a late night spent drinking wine at a fancy restaurant, then going back home and dancing around the apartment like a bunch of teenagers. We woke up to a light breakfast as we had to get out to sample the delights of the city that definitely sleeps. First we headed off on a secret mission to the Spanish riding school. Not the highlight of the trip, personally I think the lipizanas back at the apartment were far better. But we then made our way to Cafe Central to get some cake ... because you can never have enough sugar in the system ... right?!?!? Diabetes anyone?

So the big surprise of the weekend was a trip to the Vienna Opera house to see Carmen. It was a tight lipped hotly guarded secret, although old blabber chops himself almost gave it away walking out of the Spanish riding school. Yeah Yeah No one heard, get over it, let it go!!! Tracy was advised that she needed one fancy frock and boy did she deliver, only looked properly stunning. We all donned the glad rags and hit the town. Well you can't get all dolled up and not take a selfie can you?

I've been in fancy buildings in my time but I've never seen anything as oppulent as the Opera House for the Vienna State Opera. This was everything that you imagined an Opera House should be and then some. The paintings, the open atrium, the balconies, the highly decorative ceilings. Seriously this place ticked all of the boxes. Highlight of the evening - Gillian getting her Darndale skank on and giving a piece of her mind to some mobile phone obsessed millenial. Very entertaining :)

Talk about a duck to water. Tracy was the Belle of the ball with her fancy pants dress and crushed velvet coat. Sure you'd swaer she was some Anagassin bread heiress or something. Either way she had the dough!

Shine a bleedin' light!!

Would you kook at these three beauties trapsing around Vienna all glamerous and stuff. It's a wonder they weren't arrested for disturbing the peace with those slender lines and banana smiles.

Now I'm not saying that prancing around the living room with a poofe atop your head is encouraged, but seriiously if you're going to do it please ensure you are wearing sensible trainers at the time. Much skill involved in the balancing of said poofe. All a part of the apartment Lipizana training.

What a plank .... That is all!
